Navy Bean & Tuna Salad
March 7, 2026
Bean salads can be ultra-simple, delicious, and super healthy. Quality ingredients are key when assembling a dish like this. The flavor star of the show is the tuna. I use only Safe Catch brand tuna for multiple reasons. Each fish is tested for mercury with limits 10x stricter than FDA guidelines, the tuna come from sustainable fisheries, and best of all it just tastes great! Buy it in bulk at Azure to save a lot of money.
Beans are the second most important ingredient. I chose navy beans for their delicate flavor and smooth texture. The choice of bean used can really change how the recipe feels when eaten. I prefer beans with a thin skin and creamy texture but switching in Kidney beans for instance would make the salad heartier and more filling. Use whatever type of bean you want but I always buy quality name brand canned beans or even better prepare dry beans if I have the time and energy.
I finish the salad with thinly sliced red onion, a splash of red wine vinegar, and salt and pepper. Another option would be to make a vinaigrette with red wine or balsamic vinegar for the dressing. Maybe add some non-pareil capers or some chopped green olives. This salad is easy to customize how you like. It is also nutritionally loaded with 7.5 grams of fiber and a whopping 37.3 grams of protein per serving. As always enjoy your meal and Eat With Love!
