Instructions
- 1
1. Cut each bread slice lengthwise into four equal strips for a total of 24 pieces.
- 2
2. Combine whole eggs, egg whites, milk, orange juice, vanilla extract, and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon in a shallow bowl. Whisk until blended.
- 3
3. Dip the bread strips into the egg mixture, turning to coat both sides. Remove and let excess liquid drain off.
- 4
4. Spray a skillet with cooking spray and heat over medium.
- 5
5. Arrange the coated strips in the skillet in a single layer (work in batches if needed). Cook for about 2 minutes until golden brown on the bottom.
- 6
6. Flip the strips with a spatula and cook the other side until golden brown, about 2 minutes.
- 7
7. Continue with any remaining strips, repeating steps 5 and 6.
- 8
8. While the toast cooks, place berries, maple syrup, and 1 teaspoon cinnamon in a saucepan. Heat over medium, stirring occasionally, until berries mostly break down, 3 to 5 minutes. Remove from heat and cover.
- 9
9. Plate the French toast sticks and pour the warm berry syrup over them before serving.
