Instructions

    1. Warm the oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

    2. Add the chopped onion and diced bell pepper, cooking until the onion softens, about 5 minutes.

    3. Stir in the sliced mushrooms, water, garlic, oregano, basil, bay leaf, tomato sauce, and tomato paste.

    4. Lower the heat and simmer uncovered for 30 minutes.

    5. Remove and discard the bay leaf.

    6. Stir in the honey and continue cooking for 10 minutes more.

    7. While the sauce cooks, fill a large pot with water and place it over high heat.

    8. Once the water boils, add the salt and pasta to the pot, then reduce the heat to medium.

    9. Cook the pasta until tender, about 10 minutes, then drain well.
