Instructions

    Combine the masa harina and salt in a large bowl. Gradually add warm water, about 1½ cups, mixing until a soft dough forms that holds together without cracking. The dough should feel like soft Play-Doh.

    Divide the dough into 12 equal balls.

    Place a ball between two sheets of plastic wrap or a zip-lock bag cut open. Press flat with a tortilla press or heavy skillet to about ⅛ inch thick.

    Heat a dry cast-iron skillet or comal over medium-high heat. Cook each tortilla for 45-60 seconds per side until lightly spotted and the edges begin to lift.

    Keep warm in a folded towel until ready to serve.
